JNJ Motorsport are planning to support Richard in a selection of rounds of the TVR Challenge series in 2008, where he's driving a 450 bhp TVR Tuscan Challenge Race car.

The car itself was developed over the years and the later TVR AJP8 powered race Tuscans, with a bhp of around 500 per tonne, are capable of 0-100 mph in less than 7 seconds and a top speed of well over 180 mph !

Many well known and "top flight" drivers have raced in TVR Tuscans at some time in their career and the series proved to be very popular with the British race crowds.

Regrettably, in early 2005, following a change in ownership, the TVR factory unexpectedly pulled its support for the series. However, TVR's Motorsport Director at that time acquired the rights and the series developed into the TVR Challenge Series, which has opened up to attract racing across all TVR models, not just the Tuscan.

The races continue to attract large crowds and gain extensive TV coverage. In 2008 it is expected that the TVR Tuscans will be racing against TVR Sagaris's, T350s, Cerberas, Griffiths, Chimaeras as well as the old Tasmins. Indeed, this year should see the largest variety of TVRs racing together to date.

Due to the greatly differing power of the various cars though, a class structure in each of the races exists and this has been kept to just three categories:-
  • Class A - Turbo cars up to 3 litres and more than 350bhp, normally aspirated cars with 5 litres or more than 350 bhp. This group will of course include the AJPV8 powered Tuscans and the racing Sagaris's.
  • Class B - Turbo cars up to 3 litres with less than 350 bhp, normally aspirated cars between 3.0-5.0 litres and less than 350 bhp.
  • Class C - Normally aspirated cars up to 3 litres
